What is equality?
Equality of rights – one of major elements of democracy, which means equality of citizens before a law, a court and a state.
In other words without depending on a sex, racial belonging, origin, property position and other circumstances, the citizens of one state have the same rights, duties and possess the same freedoms.
First principle of equality was pulled out in the epoch of bourgeois revolutions. And since question about equality of rights in the world is not decided yet.
The guarantee of equalities in society depends not only on the state but also on the row of circumstances – both objective and subjective property.
So to the objective circumstances which influence the providing of equality, the mental and physical conditions of man belong, as a citizen, distinctions in climatic and economic terms – if we will begin to talk about the subjects of federation.
Obviously, that distinctions in the transferred circumstances strongly influence on possibilities, both individuals and subjects of federation – on the whole.
There is also a row of subjective circumstances. The actual equality of peoples and citizens is often interrupted by the prejudices which with attitude toward religious, national, racial, even sexual belonging.
Actually, equality of men and women in many states of the world until now remains questioned. It is favoured by a row of reasons, both objective and subjective.
Nowadays women try not to yield to the men in anything. Women aim to do a career, both in business and in a policy, try in anything to keep abreast of men, in the case of violation of their rights they often come to the lawyers, advocates with a requirement to protect their rights and freedoms, assured by Constitution and confirmed by their citizenship.
It is necessary to mention that these attempts of weaker sex to occupy high positions and behave on equal with men are very often perceived negatively by society.
However, psychologists also argue that the so-called gender equality had a negative impact on life duration for both men and women. The first ones suffer from psychological trauma due to harassment and loss of traditional privileges, the other ones sufferi from excessive loads.
But despite everything, the struggle for equality continues.
